My work in clay began in earnest after I saw the pottery made by the indigenous people of New Mexico. I was mystified by their burnished black surfaces that gleamed like stones. Because of this, I learned how to make my own primitive pottery by learning about pit firing, saggar, and horse hair fired processes. The bisqued pots are enclosed in a chamber filled with salts, oxides, and dried plant material. The burning and cooling from the heat causes a myriad of unpredictable colors and marks on the surface of the ware. My pottery is not meant to hold water. They function. instead. in the manner of a painting. No two of them are alike.

My work is a celebration of nature’s rhythm—its patterns, its fleeting beauty, and the quiet magic that exists in fleeting moments.
Using acrylics, chalk pastels, paint markers, and colored pencils, I explore organic patterns and textures that reflect the rhythm and emotion of the natural world. Inspired by quiet moments in nature, my method allows for spontaneity and an almost dreamlike blend of abstraction and realism to evoke the feeling of a memory. Each piece invites the viewer to pause, reflect, and reconnect with the beauty found in everyday details and hopefully realize how fragile and precious small moments are in our life.

Trained in classical design, I am primarily a portrait artist, painting in the tradition of the Italian Old Masters of sfumato to create soft, seamless transitions of light and shadow, giving my work a lifelike, atmospheric quality. With heirloom-quality oils and pastels, I strive to create portraits that go beyond likeness, capturing the emotion of a moment and preserving a memory forever. My passion is telling a story through portraiture, honoring the uniqueness of each subject with meticulous attention to detail. Every brushstroke is a celebration of life, and I invite you to connect with the timeless artistry of portraiture through my work.

As a Fort Worth-based artist, I am passionate about contributing to and growing within the local art community. I would love to take an active role in the Fort Worth Art Community (FWAC) by attending and organizing meetings, exhibitions, and events that bring artists together. Supporting fellow artists is something I deeply value—I enjoy helping others navigate the art world, connect with opportunities, and develop their creative careers. My experience in both business and fine art allows me to bridge the gap between artistic vision and professional success, making me a valuable asset to FWAC. I look forward to collaborating with like-minded creatives and fostering a thriving, supportive art scene in Fort Worth.

As a figurative oil painter, I am driven by the dance between form and emotion, exploring the human experience through the intimate lens of the human body. My work is a testament to the power of storytelling through imagery, capturing moments of vulnerability, strength, and introspection. While I do seek to capture the physical likeness of my subjects, my focus is the essence of their inner worlds.
Ultimately, my goal is to create a space for contemplation and dialogue, where the beauty and complexity of the human experience can be celebrated and explored with reverence and curiosity.

Artist Statement :
I am a mixed media storyteller and art educator, utilizing both past and present experiences as a visual diary. Growing up in central Texas, I hold a BFA in Ceramic Sculpture from East Texas State University and an MFA in Mixed Media from The School of the School of the Art Institute of Chicago. My artistic journey was enriched by a residency at the Banff School of Fine Arts in Alberta, Canada.
Throughout my art career, I have embraced various roles, including academic studio art internships, community art instructor positions for K-adults, visual arts admissions counselor, portfolio advisor, and high school art teacher. These experiences have all contributed to my visual diary and shaped my artistic voice.
Currently, I dedicate myself to my artwork as a full-time studio artist, exploring themes of personal identity and emotion. My work reflects my struggles and growth from childhood to the present, engaging in an ongoing dialogue between memory and current experiences, emphasizing the ever-changing nature of identity. My artistic journey has been profoundly influenced by narrative & figurative movements such as the Chicago Imagist Movement, the West Coast 70’s Movement, and German Expressionism, alongside diverse cultural experiences gained through living, studying, teaching, and traveling in Mexico, Southeast Asia, Europe, Canada and various locations within the United States.
