"The first show opened Fall Gallery Night in 2011, and was a huge success, so much so that the police were called, the neighbors complained, and the gallery was shut down as code enforcement declared it was in a residential area. After, the group struggled to come up with a compromise. Some people left the group at that point and others were invited to join. We found a one-day pop-up space on Race Street, that coincided with FWADA Spring Gallery Night in 2013 and The Fort Worth Art Collective was born. The FWAC has made a significant impact on the art scene in Fort Worth. I moved away in 2017, but I’m very proud of what I started, and I’m happy that the artists have kept the collective going, improving and expanding each year."
